Why did you choose to become an M-Files Partner?
Back in 2009, Indixio (then called Geomap GIS America) had been selling and implementing GIS (Geographic Information System) solutions for 9 years. We were looking for an EDM solution that we could integrate with our GIS solutions to provide better document management functionality. Our sister company, Geomap Luxembourg, was already selling M-Files. They had in fact participated in the first translation of M-Files to French. They demoed the solution to us, and we were very impressed by the powerful metadata driven approach of M-Files, so we decided to become one of the very first M-Files partners in North America and distribute the product.

We have now been successfully implementing M-Files for over 15 years and are proud to help our customers become more efficient through knowledge work automation with M-Files.

Because of our GIS background and Intelligent Information Management expertise, we work with different industries in the public sector (local government, provincial / state government agencies, health and education) and the private sector (transportation and utilities, engineering and construction, natural resources and energy, real estate and facilities management). Most of our customers are based out of Canada, the United States and the Caribbean with some extending to Europe.

What do you like most about M-Files?
The flexibility and ease of use that comes from the meta-data driven architecture of M-Files. In addition, the Gen AI capabilities of M-Files make it an extremally powerful tool that can integrate with all enterprise systems and not only centralize all the information but provide for a great day to day automation and information management platform. It has increased our productivity so much that we couldn’t live without it to be honest.

When we started Unitfly we wanted to focus on M-Files and its ecosystem. My founders and I came from the world of software development and we knew there was a space for a company that could do both M-Files implementations and development of M-Files add-ons. Being a Solution Partner was a natural move for our company.

What solution(s) do you have in the M-Files Solution Partner program and why did you chose to build it/them?

Extension Kit for M-Files – the Extension Kit for M-Files is our most used product worldwide and is now available to purchase directly via M-Files. We are using it internally for every M-Files implementation. When we started doing M-Files implementation we realized customers would also like to have some specific automations that would require custom development. To help other partners and us, we started working on Extension Kit from the very first project we had. From that point onwards, Extension Kit has been extensively upgraded with new modules and functionalities and is a main configuration accelerator for many partners worldwide.

REST OT Connector– M-Files’s support for custom external object types allowed us to add a support for most often integration mechanism – via REST APIs. With a rich background in software integrations, we were sure REST OT Connector would help many partners significantly expand possibilities by being able to connect any 3rd party system with M-Files by using REST APIs.

Cloud Integration Connector – As M-Files has strong technical relationship with Microsoft the same is for us. Our team is extensively using various Microsoft services. Cloud Integration Connector allows you to integrate 3rd party systems with M-Files by using very powerful integration services within Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Azure.

Process Intelligence Kit – latest addition to Solution Catalogue. M-Files should streamline business processes. To be able to measure and analyze business processes implemented in M-Files we developed Process Intelligence Kit. By using Process Intelligence Kit, you can export M-Files history in a form of events and that way provide customers with rich analysis using Process Mining techniques.

What do you like most about M-Files?

The “Google-Search” functionality as well as the workflow automation are two of my favorite capabilities. Unlike other document management systems, M-Files doesn’t use folders to house files, but instead OCR functionality, metadata and classification. Users have the ability to search for information either directly in the content, or by using the metadata associated with the content, to then retrieve a set of results. The workflow automation capability has been transformative for our back-office outsourcing clients. Processes like AP aging, AFE, financial approvals, land approvals, check request processes and more are all automated, freeing up resources to tackle more value-added projects and tasks. Before M-Files, teams had to manually scan documents, email them, which would then create a slew of off-system processes that caused delays, wasted paper, and drained valuable resources’ time. Now, our clients enjoy the centralized location of their documents, and easy, reliable, and consistent processes.

Going through Audits can be a very painful process but because of the approval workflows EAG has built and the in-app tracking functionality, getting through annual audits for our clients is a breeze. Innovation, we liked the focus of the company, and simplicity of the application - in comparison to the many other offerings by competitors in the DE market.

Regulated industries with a need for QMS (Medical Devices, Pharma Ingredients, Food & Beverage, Manufacturing)

What are the key/unique benefits you provide to customers?
We provide an integrated offering with Capturing, Process Automation, Input and Output Management.
And we offer integration with M-Files Process Maps.

Do you offer your own solution based on M-Files?
No.

What do you like most about M-Files?
What I like most is the flexibility of meta-data modelling and that you can enhance and optimize things over time. I like the power that it grants to users to create their own specific environment for their own specific use case.

Have you developed any specific modules or specific expertise?
We have provided the QR module which creates 2D barcodes from Views or Objects, and allows people to create queries or add entries into M-Files with your mobile phone. We have made this open source. It can be found in the M-Files solution Catalog.
We have also built the M-Files Process Maps add-on, which adds capabilities to M-Files.

One last comment: Simpler is better. You can learn M-Files core concepts in 20 minutes and then users are empowered to thrive in any situation they find themselves in.
